Chapter 12

Kai

As Kai watched Zara sing that silly song that he couldn’t help but love, he was ready to pounce on the stage and take her right there in front of everyone.

He could see she was nervous, so he trained his eyes on her. It didn’t take long for her to loosen up and start to sway her hips from side to side. With one sexy sway, she went from stomp-the-shit-out-of-your-heart intimidating to I-dare-you-to-take-your-eyes-off-my-body. He surely would not. Not for the rest of his natural born life if he could help it. When the audience cheered her sexy little moves, she upped her game and put some stank on it. Kai growled possessively. Who would have guessed what was hiding underneath all those black clothes?

Kai licked his lips as he watched her. This song was interminably long. But she was having fun. And holy shit…she could sing! She had a really, really good voice. Kind of sweet and simple but with a little bit of and edge of Stevie Nicks.

This was giving Kai a really good idea. Someday they would be singing together.

When the song ended, he wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. He stood and held out his hand to help her down the stairs. But to his surprise, she stage-dived into his arms.

Kai was ready for anything when it came to Zara and snatched her out of the air and into his waiting arms as the crowd cheered.

As he stomped through the bar and out into the street, she hugged his neck and said into his ear, “Thank you, that was fun.”

He laughed and replied, “Babe, you don’t know what fun is. We’re about to have a lot more of it.”
